How to hide pages from Winnow search results
Why hide pages from search?
Sometimes you might want certain pages to stay out of your search results. Common examples:
- landing pages built for campaigns or SEO
- overview pages that are less useful than the content they link to
- pages that should stay visible to search engines, but not to people already browsing your site
Your site platform may not give you much control over this. Winnow does, using a feature we call Search Lenses.
Set up exclusions
Use the Default lens to control what appears in search across your site.
- Open "Search Lenses" in the Winnow interface
- Open the Default lens
The main text field in the lens editor is where you decide which paths should be excluded from search.
You can:
- exclude a single page with
/specific-page - exclude a whole section with a wildcard, for example
/blog* - add an exception with
!, for example!/blog/interesting-postto bring one page back after excluding the whole blog with/blog*
Click "Save" when you are done. Changes apply immediately.
If you want different parts of your site to have different search behavior, read the Introduction to search lenses guide.
