A small search service made by people who want the web to feel more human.

Winnow Search is part of DoNoHarm, a miniature software company run by Felix Bauer and Sebastian Probst Eide. We build tools for people who care about their own visitors and want useful software without dark patterns, pressure tactics, or needless ceremony.

We are a personal business, not a faceless vendor.

The two of us also built Monocle Search, where we learned that site search is most useful when it is practical, calm, and supported by real people. Winnow Search carries that same care to content-heavy websites beyond Squarespace.

Our bias is toward kindness, connectedness, and humanity. That means we prefer clear pricing, honest limits, plain language, and excellent support from people who know the product deeply. We are trying to do a few essential things well, not stretch Winnow into every possible search product.

What compassionate services mean here

  • Helpful before clever Search should help a person find the right page, PDF, policy, or answer without making the website owner do unnecessary setup work.
  • Support that stays close If something is confusing, you can reach us. We want customers to feel heard, not routed through layers of impersonal process.
  • Fair to small and large sites We are building for the Fortune 5M: the small businesses, libraries, docs teams, community groups, educators, and creators who deserve good tools too. The Fortune 500s might do well using us too, but they are not the only people software should serve.

We want the service to feel like someone is there.

The Compassionate Services manifesto is part of the way we think about this work: software should reduce stress, respect people, and make room for care.

Winnow Search is early, but the direction is firm. We want a small, focused search service that is personal enough to be accountable, careful enough to be trusted, and useful enough to help a visitor find the right thing without fuss.
